Presenters
Dr. Meghan Solc, DVM, DACVD
Meghan grew up on a hobby farm in Brockville, Ontario, Canada, where her love for animals flourished. In addition to her farm chores, she began working at the local Brockville Animal Hospital at the age of 13 and loved every moment of it. Meghan later moved
to Prince Edward Island, Canada, where she ultimately achieved her dream of becoming a veterinarian, receiving her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2012 from the Atlantic Veterinary College. After graduation, Meghan relocated to Toronto, Ontario, to complete
a rotating internship followed by a specialty dermatology internship. Her passion for dermatology deepened, and she was fortunate to be accepted into a residency with Dermatology for Animals. In 2018, she became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary
Dermatology.
Meghan has continued her work with Dermatology for Animals in Akron, Ohio, and recently moved to the Catonsville, Maryland, location. She has trained two dermatology specialty technicians and continues to work with residents through the ACVD. She currently
resides in Baltimore with her wife, Katie, and their fur kids, Bruce, Iris, and Max. When she's not promoting the field of veterinary dermatology, you can find Meghan traveling, hiking, rowing, and exploring new foodie spots.
Meghan was just honored with the DVM360 Veterinary Hero award in 2024.

Punta Islita – Costa Rica
Let me share my happy place with you, it’s almost magical. Far from the city, away from the “touristy” spots on top of a mountain overlooking the sea. This resort focuses on ecological sustainability and also integrating and offering cultural experiences.
Location:
Hotel Punta Islita
13 Miles SE of Playa Samara
160, Guancaste Province, Punta Islita, 50201
How to get here: We recommend flying into Liberia airport (LIR) as it is closest. You can rent a car at the airport (we always use Adobe, a local more economical chain) or request a shuttle from the resort in advance (~$220 +taxes for up to 5 people). It is a 2+ hour drive from Liberia airport. Depending on recent weather, the road over the last few kilometers can require drivers that are experienced with loosely maintained dirt/gravel roads in hilly terrain. I do recommend if anyone gets car sick that you consider medications for the winding bit of the drive. If you would prefer to fly from SJO or LIR to Islita, there is a tiny local airport serviced by Costa Rica’s domestic airline SANSA.
